Get creative with these easy crackers.

Oat cracker faces

Method

  1. Heat oven to175°C.
  2. In a food processor blend the oats until they resemble coarse flour. Add wholemeal flour, baking powder and margarine and pulse until they are combined.
  3. Add water slowly and blend until a dough forms. Turn the dough out on to a floured workbench and knead until it comes together into a ball.
  4. Roll the dough out to approximately 3mm thick and cut into 9cm circles. Combine scraps and re-roll.
  5. With a pastry brush lightly spread the tops of the crackers with some extra water. Sprinkle the sesame seeds on top (if serving plain).
  6. Place crackers on greased baking trays. Bake for approximately 25 minutes or until crisp.
  7. Allow to cool on racks. Store in airtight containers if not decorating.
  8. Once cool, use dips and fresh vegetables to decorate the crackers.

Tip

Dips for decorating can include beetroot dip, roasted carrot and cumin, cottage cheese or hummus

  • 140g wholemeal flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 75g margarine
  • 125 ml cold water
  • 20g sesame seeds (optional)
  • dips,vegetables and fruit for decorating
