Cottage pie

A hearty and healthy pie that will be sure to warm you up.

Cottage pie

Method

  1. Chop potatoes and boil until tender. Drain, place in a bowl, mash with milk.
  2. Brown mince in a frying pan, add onion, cook 4-5 minutes.
  3.  Add tomatoes, carrots and ketchup and water and simmer for 20 -25 minutes.
  4. Pre heat oven to grill at 200°C.
  5. Put mince mix into baking dish, spread mashed potato over the top. Place under the grill for 5-10 minutes until golden.
  6.  Serve with salad vegetables.

You need

  • 5 medium mashing potatoes
  • ½ cup low fat milk
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan
  • 450g lean beef mince
  • 1 onion, peeled and chopped
  • 4 tomatoes, cored and diced or 1x 440g can tomatoes
  • 2 carrots, peeled and grated
  • 2 Tbsp tomato ketchup
